What does Wanderlust mean?

What exactly does Wanderlust mean?

According to the dictionary, Wanderlust is a lust for wandering. The word comes from German, in which wander means “to hike or roam about”, and lust means “pleasure or delight”. However, Everybody probably has their own meaning and understanding of “Wanderlust“.  In my opinion, it also means exploring yourself and not just exploring the world.

Is Wanderlust a good thing?

I think so. Traveling helps you grow. Every trip you take makes you feel like an adventurer – you feel more confident and become more independent because you face and solve problems on your own. When you find yourself dealing with unusual situations, you learn more about yourself. This alone can help you be more aware of not only who you are but who you want to be.

Traveling can have a big impact on your life, whether you go solo or with someone, on the other side of the world or in your own country, for a few days or months. Just think of this: how often did you experience the feeling of going on a trip and coming back as a different person? Maybe you didn’t know exactly why that happened – but you will understand it after learning about the many benefits of traveling!

Think of all the delicious food you tasted during your trips. Or recall how you felt when you ziplined through the jungle, or saw a city skyline for the first time, or met that child with the deepest eyes ever. Traveling provides you with unforgettable memories of uncommon experiences that you wouldn’t have had if you didn’t get out of your comfort zone. One of my favorite benefits of traveling is that you learn about the world by immersing yourself into different cultures.

Research a destination or a company that focuses on Cultural Immersion. Our treks expose you to the majestic Himalayas in Nepal or the vast plains of Ethiopia. Want to design your own trek? We set up private treks for you and your friends or family!

Driftwood Adventure Treks has an incredible trek coming up April 15 – 29, 2022. We will be trekking to the Gokyo Lakes, pristine glacier lakes in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Most people have heard of the Annapurna Circuit or of Everest Base Camp, but we are trekking off the beaten path to an area that is still untouched. Luxury tea houses, no crowds, space to practice yoga and or partake in photography workshops. You will find yourself immersed in the Nepalese culture daily as you trek from village to village. Learn how to cook traditional Nepalese foods, play with the local kids, or help some villagers harvest their crops.
